So it's been a whole year since Jessica Jane Has Acne first released! I'm still so happy with how the game turned out despite it's rough edges. It was the first game project that I'd sunk so much time into and I'd say it was all worth it. I put a lot of myself into the writing for the game, so much so that a friend of mine said she could picture me speaking Jessica's dialogue. It was a very angsty and personal story about issues that I didn't see portrayed as well as I'd wished, having acne growing up and even now comes with a lot of stigma. I wanted to make a game that portrayed someone who's utterly normal, relatable and just so happens to have acne. Not that my main intentions were to spread a positive message however, a lot of the game is just me getting my angst out there lmao, isn't that the beauty of art?
Anyhow, I wanna thank you all for playing and enjoying the game. If you have yet to play it then I commend you for reading this far? Now for the main part of this post, I wanna reveal to you what I've been working on for the past few months... unfortunatley I haven't got anything to show you yet. I have individual assets that I could show off, but I'd rather wait till I can show some more coherent sneak peeks. In the meantime I'll just say that the project does involve Jessica Jane, I'll reveal more at a later date but just know that the drawing above might be reflective of what this project will look like in terms of art style. (Which is to say the same as JJHA, just more refined.)
Last but not least I'd like to announce that I'll be shifting focus from posting art on social media to working on this project more consistently. This doesn't mean I won't post art on social media anymore but it does mean you shouldn't expect any more weekly art pieces. The project has been coming along well but progress has been a lot slower than I anticipated, so I wanna try and focus my efforts on it moreso than my stand-alone art pieces. Anyhow (part 2) I'm thankful for all of those who played JJHA and I hope you'll consider following my work both on itch.io and Twitter (Instagram too if you'd rather). I'll be posting updates on the new project when I get closer to the finishing stages over on twitter, maybe I'll also post them as instagram stories (I'll be sure to save them to my profile). Goodbye for now and thank you for reading!
Get your life back together!
